Abstract

Mountain microorganisms (MM) have been applied artisanally as organic fertilizers in agricultural soils, obtaining promising results. The objectives of this research were: to characterize the bacteria present in a biol obtained from mountain soils, to quantify the performance as a fertilizer of the coyote culantro crop (Eryngium foetidum L.) and to determine its optimal dose. The field work was carried out in the community of Bajo Bonito, located in Capira, Panamá Oeste. The experimental design was a randomized complete block, with six treatments (biol dose) and four blocks. The chlorophyll level and yield (kg/treatment) were evaluated. The statistical analysis concluded that treatment 5 (100 ml biol/17.90 L water) was the most efficient for the fertilization of culantro. The soil studied, not being treated with agrochemicals, maintains its structure and function, so it turned out to be suitable for agricultural production. Regarding laboratory work, 34 strains were isolated, which were subjected to different biochemical tests, proving to be efficient in promoting plant growth, with siderophore producers standing out among all the groups. Additionally, the following strains were identified: Lysinibacillus fusiformis, Bacillus kochii, Methylobacterium sp. and Bacillus velezensis, through 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing. The application of bioles is presented as a sustainable alternative for the environment, as well as for small and medium-sized farmers seeking to improve their crop yields and provide a higher quality product to consumers.
