Abstract

Through farms organization under nucleous farmers and estrous sincronization, it was implemented and strategic Artificial Insemination program. With the coordination of MIDA, ANAGAN and IDIAP, it was offered the possibility of implementing an animal breeding program in dual purpouse herds. Nucleous farmers were formed in Gualaca, Renacimiento and San Pablo (Chiriqui). Thirty four farmers were organized. Five humdred and twenty two animals were palpated, 139 were inseminated and 45 animals were pregnants. Farmers stratification and a selection based on technological level could be important elements for the adoptation of artificial insemination by small produccers.
