The experiment was carried out during three consecutive years in Los Castillo, Herrera, republic of Panama. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate stubble of different C/N relationships under different levels nitrogen fertilization and its relationships with corn yield. The experimental design was a completely randomized block design in a split-plot arrangement with four repetitions. The system evaluated (principal plot) were (1) Canavalia stubble, (2) Canavalia plus grass stubble, (3) grass stubble, and (4) no stubble plot. Levels of nitrogen (subplot) were 0, 75 and 150 kg/ha. Experimental results indicated that stubble with a high C/N relationship reduce the potential yield of corn grain due to the high consumption of available N in the system. Furthermore, it was found corn response to the application of N was highly significant in all evaluated systems.
